Perisher operates the largest alpine resort in the Southern Hemisphere boasting 4 resort areas, 1,245 hectares of skiable area, 7 mountain peaks and about 50 lifts/tows. The resort caters to all age and ability levels from beginner to expert. Group and private lessons are available for all levels.
Typically lifts operate daily from about 8:30am - 5pm between June and October Long Weekends, subject to Perisher resort operations and weather conditions. Lift passes are required and can be purchased online through Perisher along with skitube, lessons and on mountain ski hire.
By choosing to stay with us at Valhalla, the resort area of Perisher is only moments from your doorstep. In under a 2 minute downhill ski you can be at the Perisher Centre footbridge with access to the 4 interlinking resorts; Perisher, Smiggin Holes, Guthega and Blue Cow. To get you back with minimum fuss we include a complimentary oversnow transfer at the time that suits you between 3:30pm - 5:30pm daily. If you wish to return at other times you can either walk (10mins) or take a Hans Oversnow "taxi" at own expense.
There are plenty of places dotted across the resort to stop for lunch, a cold beverage or hot chocolate.
Perisher offer private and group lessons and an excellent ski school program. A crèche and babysitting option is also available on mountain.
Our live-in staff know the best places to head given the conditions of the day so ask your hosts for their recommendations.
We are a private ski lodge offering accommodation at Valhalla Lodge in Perisher Valley. We do not sell Perisher Ski Resort lift tickets, lessons, ski hire or Skitube tickets. To reserve these you will need to book online through Perisher directly. Whilst we do not sell Perisher products, if you are staying with us at Valhalla, please feel free to contact us for assistance, we're here to help.
If you love to cross country ski, you'll love our location! Marked, groomed trails are located closely behind our lodge. The Perisher Sverre Kaaten Nordic Shelter is approximately 200m from your doorstep. The Nordic Shelter offers day-use facilities for the cross country community and is often where lessons begin.
There are kilometres upon kilometres of cross country ski trails for you to enjoy with no trail fees to pay. Many trails are groomed daily. Depending upon snow conditions you can have up to 50km of groomed trails to explore between Perisher, Charlotte Pass and Smiggin Holes.
Conveniently, cross country ski gear is available for hire on mountain through Wilderness Sports, here at Perisher Valley. Both Wilderness Sports and K7 Adventures offer lessons and day tour options.
Perisher Cross Country Trails

Tobogganing is not permitted on the ski slopes, however you can toboggan within the National Park. There is also a designated toboggan area just off the Perisher Day Car Park. Approx. 15min walk.
Spin down the hill on giant tubes. Tubetown is operated by Perisher behind the day car park, near the designated toboggan area. Note: Tubetown is not open all season
Take a half or full day trip with a local expert guide or explore on your own. Porcupine Rocks pictured here is one of the scenic walks that begin close to our lodge.
The Charlotte Pass DayTripper package includes transfer by scenic oversow, lunch and your choice of a full mountain lift pass or a 2.5hour guided snowshoe tour.
There is more to do in Perisher Valley than just ski!
Our top suggestions for the non-skier:
· Take a guided tour with local experts Wilderness Sports or K7 Adventures · Take the skitube to Blue Cow for a morning snack, lunch or a drink at the bar, the views are awesome · Snow-shoe or hike to Porcupine Rocks (2.5hrs) for an amazing look out · Snow-shoe or walk up to Alpine Eyre Cafe and meet your companion for the tastiest of mountain burgers · Take a scenic chairlift ride (cost involved and can be closed to foot passengers) to Mid Station for an extra special hot chocolate, lunch or drink at the bar before riding to the top for awesome views · Chill out in one of the great bars or restaurants within the Perisher area, some offering views of the slopes to watch your companions or kids in ski school · Settle into our sundrenched lounge with a good book or watch a movie in our TV room
Ski lessons are available and highly recommended for downhill and cross country skiing. Until you have mastered the art of balance, turning and stopping, you will not be able to ski out of Valhalla in the mornings. We would recommend hiring Hans Oversnow to take you down in the morning, this is at own expense. Alternatively it is a 10 minute walk. If you opt to walk you will require waterproof shoes / après boots. Walking in ski boots and carrying ski gear can be overwhelming for the first timer so it might be advisable to hire a locker in the Perisher Centre and walk down in your après boots. To get you back in the afternoon we provide a complimentary transfer with Hans Oversnow between 3:30pm - 5:30pm.
