Holidaying in a ski lodge is quite a different experience to staying in a hotel or apartment, but our unique lodge style at Valhalla is one of the reasons our guests keep on returning.
"Valhalla Lodge was the perfect place to stay with the kids. After a long day on the slopes Valhalla created a warm, friendly atmosphere to enjoy a quiet beverage while a three course meal was prepared for us. Great food and company, would recommend to all"... tripadvisor, Hudson D, August 2018
Hot breakfasts cooked to order, après by the fire and delicious 3 course dinners appear before your very eyes. Kids can choose to eat with the adults at 7pm or at the early 6pm 2 course kids dinner by prior arrangement.
It's just a 2minute downhill ski to Perisher's Front Valley, marked XC tracks are out the back and the Nordic Shelter is 200m away, yet we are located in a quiet almost private position, away from the snow maker thunder and perfect for after ski on snow play.
Note: skitube is not included.
From the moment you step inside you'll feel right at home. Our lodge is small but spacious with twelve ensuite guest rooms and three common guest areas; a lounge, dining and tv room. We have free wifi, DVDs, wii games, board games, books and puzzles. Being lodge style there are no televisions in our guest rooms. Instead you'll enjoy the friendly ski lodge atmosphere and re-introducing the kids to good old fashioned socialising in our common areas, sharing snow stories and a laugh.
Perisher has snowsports programs in place for kids of all abilities from beginner to advanced. Options include the full day Discovery Kids and Perisher Kids programs for children aged 3 - 14 years and also 3 hour half day options.
Private lessons are available through Perisher.
Child care is available in the Perisher Centre for kids 6 months - 3 years and those 2+ can opt to add in a ski lesson.
Daytime and evening babysitting is available year round with Snowy Mountains Babysitting who will come to Valhalla to sit up to 4 kids per carer.
All kids programs are popular and at risk of booking out, particularly in school holidays / peak periods so it is advisable to book ahead.
Oh what fun you will have on your family snow holiday! If your kids are keen to try snowsports we recommend booking them in for lessons so they learn the newest techniques the right way. It is often said by many a parent, "My kids ski better than me"
In the mornings, if you can't ski out to get to the slopes you have two options:
1. take a taxi - Hans Oversnow will have you at the footbridge with minimum fuss. You should pre-book your transfer, especially if you are meeting lessons.
2. walk - it's about a 10 minute downhill walk and you will need après boots / waterproof shoes. It might be an idea to hire a locker in the Perisher Centre so you don't have to carry all the kids gear too.
We've made getting back to Valhalla easy with complimentary after ski oversnow transfer between 3:30pm - 5:30pm daily, perfect for ski school pick up with allowance for a couple of extra runs so the kids can show you some of what they have been working on.
If your kids are racing in interschools competitions at Perisher, it pays to stay on snow. Sometimes events run as early as 8am in the morning or as late as 6pm in the evening. Staying close by means you can be flexible to any possible time changes and not have to stress about getting to Perisher early or getting back down the mountain in the dark.
At Valhalla, we have a great location for both downhill and cross country interschool events. Dinner and breakfast is taken care of, and we offer 1 adult and 1 child room rates.
