Part of the fun of staying on-snow is getting here! Most guests park at the Bullocks Flat Skitube Terminal and take the Skitube up to Perisher Valley (see details below).
Please Note
Our lodge is located high up in the Snowy Mountains, and access during ski season is a little more involved than just driving straight to us. Due to snow coverage and road closures, please note the following:
*Parking options may become available in early or late ski season, depending on NPWS opening the roads. If this occurs, we will notify you of additional options a few days prior to your stay.
Once you’ve arrived in Perisher Valley (by Skitube, bus, or private car), you’ll be transported to our lodge in an oversnow vehicle—a specially designed vehicle built for our unique snowy alpine environment. To board your oversnow transfer, simply head to the 4Site desk inside the Perisher Skitube Terminal (upstairs, next to the baggage lift). Please note that oversnow transfers cannot be booked in advance.
Free Overnight Parking
Free overnight parking for our guests is available at the Bullocks Flat Skitube Terminal. From there, it’s about a 10-minute Skitube ride to Perisher Valley. Be sure to pre-purchase your Skitube ticket online and select the "overnight return pass." Tickets are date-based, not time-based, and you cannot pre-book a specific tube departure time. Please note that time restrictions apply for guests traveling with luggage during peak hours—check the Skitube timetable for details.
Directions to Bullocks Flat Skitube Terminal
Getting to the Skitube is easy and convenient. From Jindabyne, head out on Kosciuszko Road, take the "Thredbo" turn-off onto Alpine Way, and drive about 10 minutes. The Skitube turn-off will be on your right, just after Lake Crackenback. The terminal is located below the snowline, though snow can occasionally fall lower. Chains are rarely required to reach the terminal, but always check road/weather conditions to ensure you’re prepared for your arrival and departure.
Parking and Luggage
Once at Bullocks Flat, unload your car in the designated unloading area beside the terminal, then park in the overnight car park. Luggage trolleys are available for hire, which can be wheeled onto the Skitube. When you arrive in Perisher, your luggage can be taken up in the baggage lift located next to the 4Site desk, where you’ll board your oversnow transfer to the lodge.
Alternative Transfer Options
If you prefer not to use the Skitube, several local operators offer private 4WD shuttle services and off-mountain valley parking. You can drive to Jindabyne, leave your car, and be driven up to Perisher Valley. Here are some options:
Q. Can we park at Valhalla Lodge in ski season?
A. No. There is no overnight parking in ski season at our lodge nor on the mountain in Perisher. Free overnight Parking is off-mountain at Bullocks Flat SkiTube Terminal.
Q. Can we park in the Perisher Day Car Park in ski season?
A. No, overnight parking is not permitted in the Perisher Day Car Park during ski season. This car park is for day use only. Parking overnight here may result in fines and potential damage to your vehicle due to snow clearing operations.
Q. Can we drive up to Valhalla Lodge and drop our bags off in ski season?
A. No, you cannot drive directly to Valhalla Lodge during ski season due to road closures. We do NOT recommend driving to the Perisher Day Car Park to drop off your bags. This option adds unnecessary time to your journey, requires an NPWS pass, chains, or a 4WD, and you’ll likely encounter heavy traffic and potentially hazardous road conditions.
Flights operate into both Canberra and the Snowy Mountains (Cooma) Airports. Transport options from the airports to Perisher are as follows:
Coaches depart from Newcastle, Sydney or Canberra. Note: not all services drive up to Perisher. You may have to book a Thredbo service and alight enroute at Bullocks Flat Skitube Terminal and take the skitube to Perisher Valley.
Small group bus options
Our lodge is located at 31 Candle Heath Road, Perisher Valley NSW 2624, and is accessible during the summer season (October to June Long Weekends). You can drive directly to our lodge or opt for a private transfer or shuttle bus. Unfortunately, there are no public buses during the summer season.
Driving Instructions
Lodge Guest Parking
Parking is available for in-house guests only, at Valhalla Lodge during the summer season. Overflow parking is available nearby, following normal road rules, or at the Perisher Car Park. To avoid fines, please do not park on any vegetation or undesignated grassy areas within the park.
Important Notice about Parking
We have limited parking spaces at the lodge. If you are not staying with us for the full duration of your trip, we kindly ask that you park your car in the public Perisher Valley Car Park on nights you are not staying with us. The car park is just a 10-minute walk from the lodge. You are welcome to move your vehicle into our parking area on the nights you are staying with us. This helps ensure enough parking spaces are available for our in-house guests and allows us to manage the area for other needs. Thank you for your understanding!

Chains
During summer season, from the end of the October Long Weekend to start of the June Long Weekend, chains are not compulsory. However, snow can fall at any time of the year, so it’s essential to check the weather forecast and plan your vehicle accordingly. Note that NPWS only clears the roads on weekdays.
