2020 Employment opportunites

Ski Lodge Manager

About Valhalla

We're beautifully positioned in Australia’s Snowy Mountains, within Kosciuszko National Park. We're a 2minute downhill ski to Perisher Snow Resort and marked cross-country trails are out the back.

Despite only being open for ski season from June to October long weekends, we aren’t in the business of just selling "snow" accommodation. At Valhalla we really focus on delivering a unique ski lodge guest experience that is not dependant on snow conditions.

Valhalla is a lodge where guests and staff know each other by name. You’ll enjoy living and working in a fun, fast paced environment with a warm friendly atmosphere and typically calm, friendly guests. We have no public bar so we are a guest only property that is very family orientated. We are definitely not a party lodge.  We can accommodate a maximum of 30 persons overnight, including you and your amazing team of 4 staff.

How can I tell if this is for me?

  • Are you looking for an adventure, a new place to call home?
  • Are you passionate about snow sports, the environment and hospitality?
  • Do you have proven ability in managing a small team, small hotel or better still a ski lodge?
  • Do you have previous working on snow experience? You must possess the capability of driving a skidoo and a manual troop carrier in snowy conditions.
  • Are you a reliable, hands-on and enthusiastic manager who is a great communicator, focused on customer service and comfortable in a hosting role?
  • Are you capable of cooking lodge style meals including hot breakfast and set 3-course dinners for up to 30 persons if required?

To work with us you will require a valid RSA, First Aid Certificate and drivers license.

About the role:

This is a challenging but rewarding position. During peak periods you can anticipate working split shifts 6 days a week.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Pre-season lodge preparation and end of season pack down
  • Recruiting, managing and training house staff
  • Managing day to day lodge operations and expenses
  • Overseeing the complete guest experience from arrival to departure
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and licensing laws
  • Facilitating any minor or emergency maintenance work

To assist you in your role the company’s directors in Sydney will handle room reservations, marketing, liquor ordering and bookkeeping.
