Summer drinks on the deck, winter après by the fire, delicious meals, relaxing king ensuite rooms, spectacular panoramic mountain views, uplifting alpine vibes and more!
At Valhalla, we're focused on your guest experience. We understand that where you stay is just as important as why you stay. Our aim is to provide you with superior alpine lodge accommodation that extends your opportunities to immerse and indulge in the tastes and feels of the Snowy Mountains.
The wildflowers are beginning to bloom and we find ourselves once again relishing in the serenity and adventure of another glorious summer at Valhalla in Perisher Valley.
We are of course located within the spectacular Kosciuszko National Park. It’s absolutely stunning up here year round, but over the past few years, we have developed a definite fondness for our summer season and all the wonderful landscapes and adventures it creates.
Over the next few blogs, we aim to share some of our summer favourites with you, but first, let's talk about what is Summer Season at Valhalla.
What we refer to as our "summer season" at Valhalla, actually incorporates autumn and a bit of spring and winter too. It loosely stretches between "official" ski seasons from the snowmelt of the ski resort to the snowfall and start of ski season of the October and June long weekends.
Of course, it can snow up here at anytime of year, including during the height of summer. Snowshoeing and ski touring can often be enjoyed into late spring and snow is often found out on the main range until at least mid December.
One of our walking groups last week reported they negotiated 7 snowdrifts on their summit walk. While a summer season snowfall or snowdrift adds an exciting extra layer of adventure and a majestic transformation of scenery to any visit, don't be fooled, our summer temps can reach a hot and summery 25°C.
Because our focus is your guest experience!
We have designed a summer package for both leisure guests and corporate groups that has thoughtfully considered our remote location with the reasons for choosing to visit Kosciuszko National Park and the Snowy Mountains.
As a result we offer a carefree and refreshing, fully catered lodge based experience that matches the serenity of summer in Perisher Valley and draws on the comfort of our lodges facilities.
On your stay with us you'll be surrounded by fresh mountain air, wide open space and the majestic mountains, valleys and vibrant snowgum bushland of Kosciuszko National Park.
You'll be able to explore a vast variety of landscapes through both alpine and sub-alpine terrains. Some of your highlights could include discovering waterfalls, dipping into crystal clear mountain streams, walking among wildflowers, crossing a snowy path, enjoying lunches overlooking stunning vistas, conquering mountains and standing on the top of Australia's highest peak.
Summer activities nearby include walking, fishing, cycling, mountain biking, e-biking, road running, birdwatching, photography, kayaking, sailing, horse riding, abseiling, wine tasting, painting, massages, scenic helicopter flights and more.
To create a more immersive Snowy Mountains experience, at Valhalla we feature a wide range of local products, tastes and experiences that are available to sample throughout your stay. Operating in a national park, we strive to be a sustainable business both environmentally and socially. We work closely with and proudly support, local family businesses and the wider regional community.
Good food and wine is a huge part of the Valhalla experience, but even more so over summer. Perisher Valley is a sleepy summer village. There are (typically) no restaurants or food outlets open so we cater an all inclusive meal package over the summer season.
Sit back and be spoiled by your in-house cook! No carting in supplies or organising what or where to eat on this holiday. Your meal package features hot and continental breakfast options, a packed lunch with morning tea perfect for eating out on location, a pre-dinner snack served on the deck or by the fire and a delicious two course dinner served in our dining room. We are a licensed venue that offers a wide range of drinks to further enhance your stay and top off your carefree lodge based experience.
This summer we have an exceptional lodge team on board! Our winter lodge manager Bruce has stepped into the kitchen and is cooking up an absolute storm! He has much experience cooking and is enjoying delivering delicious meals to our guests. On Bruce’s days off, we are treated to the amazing food by Nadia. Our new wonderful front of house team, Kate and Harry, are very experienced in hospitality and have been serving up drinks and showering our guests with Valhalla’s warm mountain hospitality!
Stay your way. Book a room or book the whole lodge. Join an organised walking group. Take up an organised self-guided itinerary or plan one yourself. For small groups of friends, multiple families and corporate groups we provide the ultimate catered private venue for celebrating special events, holding workshops, retreats, team building, reunions and getaways.
